Who We Are

Community image

The Cortland Community Foundation is the only public foundation responding exclusively to the needs of Cortland area organizations and the people they serve. Grants from the Foundation help support capital improvement projects and provide many types of equipment, materials and supplies for local organizations.

We connect people who care with causes that matter. Our deep commitment to the welfare of the area we serve and our in-depth understanding of the issues, opportunities and resources that shape our region make us uniquely suited to help donors achieve their charitable goals.

We focus our work where both the needs and the opportunities for success are the greatest, strengthening our community today, tomorrow and for generations to come. Our grant awards help the arts to flourish, natural resources to be enjoyed, history to be preserved, and residents of all ages to thrive. In fact, your heartfelt generosity can make an impact far greater than you may imagine.

OUR VISION
The notion behind a community foundation is both simple and inspired: create an endowment to benefit the common good, invest its assets prudently, administer it wisely and let the yield from the principal flow back to the community to enhance the quality of life for those who live and work within it.

OUR HISTORY
The Cortland Community Foundation was established in 1998 to address the emerging needs of community non-profit organizations and of individuals seeking ways to donate to the overall well-being of residents in the Greater Cortland, New York area.

First established as a private foundation, the Cortland Community Foundation converted to a public foundation in 2007 in an effort to better position itself for future growth. This conversion will allow the Foundation to continue to give much-needed assistance to local agencies now and for many years to come.

Since the founding of the CCF in 1998, we have provided 175 grants totaling 9 and half Million Dollars.
